“You Either Worked Out Today … Or You Didn’t!”

As members, you always see me in the gym pushing my clients to train, eat better, and embrace a healthier life style. A lot of members ask me about my training. Sometimes I go through periods where I don’t want to work out. I am in the gym all day, and the last thing I want to do is train myself. However, when I don’t work out, I don’t feel good. My energy and overall self-esteem suffer. As we get older our metabolisms change, and it is harder to lose weight.

I get out of a rut by following my own tag line: “You Either Worked Out Today, Or You Didn’t!”

I will usually start out slowly, but increase it to strength training two or three times a week and cardio five times a week. I do my best cardio outside in nature where I am not looking at a clock. A great workout is called “1000 steps” in South Laguna at 9th avenue. Don’t worry it is only 220 stairs. It is a little bit of a drive, but I walk down these stairs and gaze out at the Pacific Ocean with waves crashing onto the shore and I feel an energy surge. There is nothing that beats being outside. The first time it took me 1/2 hour to walk up and down 6 times. The next time 45 minutes for 10 times. Then I started skipping a step and eventually, I could run them.Inflatable Obstacle

I understand the feeling of sometimes NOT wanting to workout. It is hard to get motivated; HOWEVER, I will bet anyone that once you have done it — You will feel better, and you don’t regret it. Whether it be an hour hike, or 30 minutes of pushing yourself, you will have more energy, your confidence increases, your belt size decreases, your heart is healthier. You may never love it. I don’t. But I do love the results, and once I get into a rhythm, I miss not doing it.

Exercise: For your health. For your life. It doesn’t have to be with me. Come into the gym and workout. Try the treadmill. Go to the Beach. Play singles. Or climb some walls. Just get out and do it because truly in the end, “You Either Worked Out Today … Or You Didn’t!”
